I own quite a few puppet books. I’ve even read some! (I only slightly kid). Some books are better than others, and I wish I had more and have read more of them. Probably my favorite thing regarding puppetry is reading about it. More than manipulation, more than watching, more than creating my own projects, I love to read about puppetry. It’s magic to me. About the only thing I love more is owning actual puppets (or commissioning the creation of puppets).
I’m interested in opening up this site for others to post on. It’s my site, so I will maintain some level of editorial control, but if what you are interested in writing is puppetry related, I’m probably game for hosting. I’d love to feature your content. Write a book review, a tutorial, cover a fabrication technique, feature an event, interview someone in the field, focus on a festival or just a great website, perhaps a writeup of a “behind the scenes” of a performance or a video. Pretty much whatever you like. Just drop me a line with what you are thinking, and I’m sure we can work something out: email@example.com.
I’m not paying, but mostly because I’m not looking for professional level writing or content. I’m fine with these posts being almost entirely self-promotional, as long as what you are promoting is puppetry and of interest to other puppeteers.
So here's the deal. I come across a lot of puppetry links. I throw them into a folder and go about my day. I occasionally get someone that asks me for puppetry resources and I throw them my list of links. Problem is they are entirely unvetted. I seldom know if the site is actually good or if it is a total scam. I just know I bookmarked it. So I want to create a section on this site for links to puppetry resources. Drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any sites you believe should be included.
